Casteel To Be Sentenced In Livingston Co.

Posted: Updated:

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. (WLNS)- The man found guilty of terrorism in connection to a three day shooting spree along I-96 in October, is scheduled to be sentenced Monday in Livingston County.

Police say Raulie Casteel shot at vehicles in four counties and Monday he will face a judge for the charges he was convicted of in Livingston County.

In October, officials say Casteel shot at at least 20 cars along I-96. Although no one was seriously injured, many people were terrified to drive in that area.

The jury heard two weeks of testimony and then took two days to deliberate, when they found Casteel guilty of terrorism, assault with a dangerous weapon, firing a weapon from a vehicle, and four other felony charges totaling seven guilty charges.

According to the State's Attorney, the terrorism conviction is the first in Michigan's history. Casteel is expected to be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

6News will be in the courtroom and we will bring you the latest as that sentence is handed down.
