A.G. Releases Top 10 Complaints in Michigan

LANSING...Nearly 11,000 complaints were filed with the Michigan Attorney General's office in 2013 and topping the list is the category "Credit and Financial Concerns".

Those complaints deal with debt collection and credit reporting with people upset about aggressive debt collection tactics used by collection agencies.  Attorney General Bill Schuette said "while debt collectors may have the right to contact you, they never have the right to threaten, intimidate or harass you."

Next in terms of the number of complaints filed involve "Telecommunications, Cable and Satellite TV".  The issues included robocalls, telemarketing and cable and satellite TV services.

7. Gasoline, Fuel and Energy (complaints over gas and utility prices)

8. Small Business Providers (complaints including publishing and advertising)

9. Landlord and Tenant disputes

10. Health Service Providers (disputes involving doctors, dentists and hospitals)
