LANSING, MI (WLNS) - If you plan to fill up your gas tank, you should do it soon.

Gas prices are down just a few cents after peaking over the weekend.

Prices are not expected to stay lower for long.

Currently the average price for a gallon of gas in Lansing is $3.71.

That's down 5 cents from the beginning of the weekend, but still up slightly from a week ago.

As a state, Michigan currently sits at $3.67 per gallon, which is well above the national average.

The national average is 23 cents lower, at $3.44.
