Enbridge Protestors Sentenced To Jail Time

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, MI (WLNS)- Three women convicted of trespassing during a protest at the Enbridge Pipeline in Ingham County back in July learned their sentence Wednesday.

The women were sentenced in Ingham County's Circuit Court in Mason. All three will serve jail time, plus 13 months probation, court costs and fines and more than $47,000 in restitution.

The restitution sentence will be handled at a later hearing.

The protestors chained themselves to the Enbridge Pipeline equipment in Stockbridge. This is the same pipeline that dumped almost a million gallons of oil into the Kalamazoo river in 2010.

Along with trespassing, the protestors were found guilty of obstructing police and resisting arrest.
