Police ID Bank Robber Who Led Police On Chase

Posted: Updated:

DURAND, MI (WLNS) - The suspected bank robber, who was found dead in a Shiawassee County wooded area late Monday night, has been identified as 43-year old Michael Willingham of Flint.

On Wednesday morning the Shiawassee County Sheriff's office said they are still working with other agencies, including the F.B.I. to determine if Willingham is connected to other recent bank robberies in the area.

Willingham's body was found late Monday night in a deer hunting blind near Durand.  Police had surrounded the area for several hours after tracking Willingham from a bank robbery at a PNC bank in Okemos.  It is reported the suspect had taken his own life.

Police were able to trail the suspect from the bank at Grand River Ave. and Marsh Road to I-69 and roughly 30 miles on I-69 until the car ended up in a snow-covered median.
