City Asking For Road Funding Help

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, MI (WLNS) - Lansing has asked for help from the state and on Wednesday, the city is one step closer to getting it.

Lawmakers in both the House and Senate approved $200 million to help cities with snow removal and pot hole repairs.

Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero says he'll take all the help he can get.

"We're out of money. We have spent our winter budget and then some. The same money we spend on plowing is the same money we spend on potholes. There is nothing left, it is literally empty. We've put in $3 million locally. We need about $12 million a year for several years," said Virg Bernero, Mayor, City of Lansing.

The funding is a part of a larger budget which is expected to get to the Governors desk in a matter of weeks.
