Last Day For Life O'Riley Mobile Home Park

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, MI (WLNS) - Friday is a sad day for people living in Lansing's Life O'Riley Mobile Home Park.

It's the day residents need to be out, and some still aren't sure where they will be living.

"As of midnight tonight I will be homeless. I'm just stressed out because of everything that's happened," said Bruce Fuller, Homeless, Former Life O'Riley Resident.

Reporter: "Where are you going to sleep tonight?"

Bruce Fuller: "That I have no idea. On the streets, on the bench, wherever I can lay my head."

They were originally given until 5 p.m. to move everything out of the park, but now they have until midnight.

Officials with the City of Lansing's Human Services department have stepped up to help arrange temporary housing for those living in the park.

Joan Jackson Johnson, Human Services Director, says having to leave their homes has been an ordeal for Life O'Riley residents.

"I think the realization is setting in that this is the day for the families that are left. On top of the trauma of having to move, and not realizing it until ten days ago, unfortunately people are angry. It's tough," said Johnson.

Johnson says the city has arranged for temporary housing in three Lansing hotels, and has begun arranging for more in a fourth.

6 News Emerald Morrow originally broke this story back in February when she found out the park had major sanitation and safety issues.

Just days later, The Ingham County Health Department condemned the Life O'Riley Mobile Home Park in south Lansing.
