Final Hours At Life O'Riley

Posted: Updated:
LANSING, MICH. (WLNS) -

Ten days ago, those living at Life O'Riley learned they would have to leave their homes, after the city of Lansing ordered the park to close over filthy living conditions.

April Foster and her family are saying goodbye to a place they called home for 46 years.

"There are so many memories here...we used to...so many families did stuff together, said Foster.

Foster was visiting her daughter in Texas when she heard about the mobile home park closing. They traveled for days to make it back as soon as they could. But are now stuck with the task of moving in this cold

"To have to be packing and getting everything out in our yards froze cant even pull it out or move it," said Foster.

Other residents are still in shock over the whole situation.

"I'm upset...depressed...tired...I'm 24/7 angry," said Laura Demmon.

And the city has had their hands full trying to find these families places to live on such short notice.

"The last week and a half...10 days to be exact has been stressful and the realization is setting in that this is the last day for those left at life O riley mobile home park," said Joan Jackson Johnson Director of Human Relations for the city of Lansing.

As residents say their final goodbye, the tainted image now connected with Life O'Riley hurts, because it is after all their home.

"Its a shame of what's going to be left of a legacy here," said Jennifer Foster. "People are going to look at this and think okay that's what this place was...and they wont remember the good timesJennifer Foster Moving out of Life O'Riley."
