Local Stock Exchanges Could Help Small Businesses

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, MI (WLNS) - If you have ever been interested in investing, this may be the opportunity for you.

Many Michigan cities are backing legislation to create local stock exchanges to invest in smaller businesses.

The bill was designed to compliment Governor Rick Snyder's crowd funding law, allowing people to use a website to raise money for projects.

The Michigan Municipal League says legislators have a chance to make communities more prosperous and send a message to entrepreneurs that Michigan is pro-business.

The legislation is designed to help smaller companies who aren't big enough to qualify for larger exchanges like the New York stock exchange.
