Officials Warn Against Walking, Driving On Frozen Lakes

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Officials from the Ionia County Sheriff's Department want to warn you of the dangers of walking and driving on frozen lakes and rivers.

Now that we're experiencing temperatures in the 40's at times, the thickness of the ice can vary, especially on rivers with a continuous current.

Ionia officials say they're hearing reports of snowmobiles and ATV's traveling along waterways and say falling through the ice, is often fatal.
