LANSING, MI (WLNS) - The quick change in the weather will have the Ingham County Road Commission closely monitoring the radar throughout the evening.
Managing Director Bill Conklin says these late winter storms make it difficult to judge how much salt to use and when, adding they've already gone through 80 percent of their salt budget.
Safety is their no. 1 concern.
They also have to consider saving where they can as that supply is the budget through December.
"They can be a mix of rain and snow, you can have ice under the snow, I'm a little worried about that tonight, you could pre salt, but then that if it all turns out to be rain that material could be wasted," said Bill Conklin, Ingham County Road Commission.
Conklin says when the storm hits crews will be ready, fueled up and prepared with salt.
