Nature Center Hosts Annual Maple Syrup Festival

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, MI (WLNS) - If you're craving something a little sweeter this weekend, you may want to stop by the Fenner Nature Center in Lansing.

The Nature Center's annual Maple Syrup Festival kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday morning.

Organizers say families can learn all about how maple syrup is made and get to boil a batch for themselves.

The center will also have a professional chef there, flipping flapjacks to raise funds.

Tickets are $7 in advance and $8 at the door.

Coordinator for the event, Katie Woodhams says no one can pass up the sweet event.

"Once people taste the cream and the maple sugar, they almost don't want to go back to the regular cane sugar because it is so distinct. Learn about mother nature. Learn about natural resources, get some tasty treats and some great exercise," said Katie Woodhams, Fenner Nature Center.

The Maple Syrup Festival runs from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Visitors will be able to park at the University Club and jump on a free shuttle to get to the center.
