Police Cracking Down On DUI's During St. Patrick's Day Weekend

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, MI (WLNS) - Starting Friday evening police departments across mid-Michigan will be putting extra patrols on the roads and officers walking the streets.

These are safety measures and are part of a proactive approach to keep everyone safe.

Officers are not the only ones stepping it up this weekend.

The Office of Highway Safety and Planning and CATA are also taking steps to curb drunk driving.

CATA buses will be extending their bus hours this weekend. Routes will open early on Saturday and stay running until 3 a.m.

According to Lansing police, this is typically one of the busiest weekend of the year.

Police say drunk driving is a risk you just don't want to take.
