East Lansing Preps For Big Holiday Weekend

Posted: Updated:

It is a big weekend for bars in East Lansing and a big night for MSU basketball as well. Put that together and you've got a combination for success for businesses

"It is the top two days of the entire year," said Kyle Lokar, MSU Senior. "Halloween and St. Patrick's day. And that's when people go out there and have a lot of fun."

And businesses as well are expecting a big crowd.

"We expect a full range from families and college kids, all the way through," said Rick Sawer General Manager, Dubins Square Irish Pub. "People will be coming in for corn beef and cabbage, which we make in house. People will be coming in for Guinness and whisky."

"We will have green beer and a few other specialty beers but we expect to have a good turnout on St. Patrick's Day" said Steve Montanye Owner, Spartan Hall of Fame Cafe.

Students are looking forward to the celebration, while others are looking to celebrate a weekend of MSU basketball.

"Lots of people to see, great conversation, great parties," said Lokar. "A lot of awesome times at the bar and house parties, things like that. Its very memorable for a lot of students."

While some are enjoying a holiday weekend without adult beverages.

"We've got a party we're going to tomorrow night," Allan Ross Lansing Resident. "There's a few bars, there's some bands playing around town, so we might hit up some of those."

Whether you are celebrating in a big way or just looking to get into the Irish or Spartan spirit, there is plenty to see and do in East Lansing this weekend.
