Families Flock To Maple Syrup Festival

Posted: Updated:

Families gathered by the dozens today to enjoy some sweet maple syrup.

Its all because of the 40th annual maple syrup festival hosted by the Fenner Nature Center.

Folks got a chance to learn ways people made maple syrup in the past, try their hand at tapping a tree and even enjoy some pancakes.

Organizers say the event is one of the most popular because people want to get out and active after a long winter season.

"I think people just get that itch and they want to go some place warm and as soon as that sap starts flowing and everything starts melting," said Katie Woodhams Program Manager with the Fenner Nature Center. "It's a great opportunity to come out and get a chance to get some exercise after we've all been cooped up."

More than 800 people showed up to the festival today.
