EAST LANSING, MICH. (WLNS) -

MSU is hoping the clean up the environment, while looking to win some national recognition for their efforts in waste management.

The university held a free electronic recycling event on campus today as part of recycle-mania.

It is a competition among 461 college and university recycling programs in North America, to see who can collect the most recyclable material.

Any electronics that were dropped off go toward helping the University.

Volunteers say these kinds of events help everyone in the long run.

"It has a lot to do with the future," said Kyle Bannon Volunteer and MSU Student. "There's only so many materials on this planet so if we can recycle a lot of things especially electronics then that will help everyone in the future."
