MI Receives Money To Increase Security

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- Thanks to an increase in security spending you'll see more of a police presence at the state capitol, starting this spring.

Right now, there are 14 Michigan State Police officers on duty, but over the next few months 25 officers will patrol the area.

They'll also have new technology including thermal imaging. This new technology will be able to spot intruders in parking lots and outside the capitol building after dark.

Lawmakers increased security spending from $677,000 to nearly $2.5 million.
