CATA Discusses Rapid Transit Changes

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- Public transportation is a great way to get from one place to another but it can also take a little time.

That's why the Capital Area Transportation Authority is working to create a new system to provide faster travel through downtown Lansing and East Lansing. The bus rapid transit system will operate like a light rail system, but instead of trains it will have buses.

They'll drive through a dedicated center-running bus lane.

CATA officials say that this will allow for economic development and improved boarding efficiency along with quicker travel times. The East Lansing City Council is meeting Tuesday to discuss the project.
