McDonalds Protests Planned Across The Country

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- Getting a meal from McDonalds Tuesday could mean getting past some protestors.

Protestors in 30 cities across the country including in Michigan claim the fast food giant has been illegally depriving workers of their wages. Labor organizers want their wages super sized, and Tuesday they're hoping to bring attention to practices they say illegally deprive workers of their wages.

Its part of an on going push by labor groups to build support for pay of $15 per hour and the right to unionize. The protest comes just days after McDonalds workers in California, New York and Michigan filed lawsuits against the fast food chain saying the company engages in a variety of illegal practices to avoid paying workers what they're owed.

While the type of violations outlined in the suits are not specific to McDonalds, lawyers say they targeted the company because it is an industry leader.

The multi-billion dollar fast food chain says they plan to investigate the allegations and take any necessary actions. Roughly 30 cities are expected to protest across the nation. It is not clear what the turnout will be.
