LEONI TWP., MI (WLNS) - Officials are investigating the cause of a house fire that forced three people from their home Tuesday night.

According to officials one person actually jumped out of a window to escape the flames.

The fire started around 9 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 400 block of 5th Street.

A man, woman and baby were inside when the fire broke out. Thankfully no one was hurt.

Public safety officials say crews kept the fire contained to a bathroom and the attic area, but much of the home suffered water and smoke damage.

The Red Cross is helping the family find temporary housing.

The cause is still under investigation, but investigators believe the fire may have started because of an alternative heating source.
