Suspect Arraigned In MSU Student's Shooting Death

Posted: Updated:

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - East Lansing police have formally charged a suspect in connection with the January shooting death of MSU student Dominique Nolff.

Suspect Marqua McCoy has had run-ins with the law before and could be facing some serious jail time if convicted in Nolff's death.

McCoy is being charged with open murder, two counts of armed robbery, felon in posession of a fire arm and felony firearm. He is also being charged as a habitual offender, which is his second offense.

It all happened Friday, Jan. 31 near the Cedar Village Apartment Complex. According to police Nolff died of multiple gunshots.

His roommate was also shot, but was treated for non-life threatning injuries. Since then police released surveillance video to track down Nolff's killer.

In February police arrested McCoy in Grand Rapids after receiving a tip he was staying at a relatives house.

Police say the shooting does not appear to be random.

McCoy is being held at the Kent County jail without bond until his trial. McCoy's preliminary exam is set for Friday, March 28 at the district court in East Lansing.
