Athlete Shares His Inspirational Story

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, MI (WLNS) - He's known as the American Blade Runner, the fastest man in the world, with no legs.

Team USA's Paralympian Blake Leeper touched more than the Olympic track at the 2014 community breakfast event.

The breakfast took place at the Lansing Center Monday morning.

Blake says his situation may look bad, but he's got every reason to wear a smile.

In a speech called Finding Abilities in your Disabilities the track and field star challenged the audience to overcome their own challenges.

"The day I was born the doctor said I wouldn't walk. You know being born without legs and to be here standing in front of thousands of people telling them that anything is possible is a true blessing and for that I have every reason to smile," said Blake Leeper, Team USA Gold Medalist.

He hopes to be the first disabled American athlete with an amputation to qualify for the Olympic games.
