(WLNS) - In Washington State the hope of finding survivors buried beneath one square mile-wide mud and sludge is fading.
Eight people are confirmed dead, following a mud slide Saturday. The list of people reported missing or unaccounted for contains 108 names. Authorities say that number will likely decline dramatically.
According to fire officials near Oso there are no signs of life coming from the site and say the mud is like quicksand, making it very difficult to search all areas, some 60-feet deep in mud.
Authorities believe heavy rainfall is partially to blame.
