Lansing Man Accused Of Stabbing Girlfriend Arraigned

LANSING, MI (WLNS) - Police have arraigned a 45-year-old Lansing man for his accused assault and stabbing of his girlfriend.

It happened around 2 p.m. Monday at an apartment in the 900 block of W. Shiawassee.

A 40-year-old woman called police and said she had been assaulted and stabbed by her boyfriend inside the apartment.

On scene officers learned the victim and the suspect are currently dating and they had a verbal argument that turned physical. 

According to police the suspect grabbed a knife and stabbed his girlfriend near her stomach area.

The victim ran out of the apartment to a neighbor's and called police. 

The victim was treated on scene and taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Officers arrested the boyfriend/suspect without incident at the apartment. The 45-year-old Lansing man was taken to the Lansing Police Detention facility.

The suspect is known as Stephen Duane Jackson. He was arraigned and is facing the following charges:
Count 1: Assault with intent to Murder (Felony)
In the Alternative to Count 1
Count 2: Assault with intent to do Great Bodily Harm less than Murder (Felony)
Count 3: Domestic Violence – Aggravated (Felony)
Habitual Offender – Third offense Notice

Jackson's bond is $25,000 and he has a pre-exam conference scheduled for March and a preliminary hearing scheduled for April.
