Jackson Man Shot During Car Theft

JACKSON, MI (WLNS) - One man is hospitalized with a gunshot wound after a bizarre car theft in Jackson.

Police there say the victim left the keys in his car when he went into a local store.

His car was gone when he came back out but he found the car after a short search near Biddle and Orchard Place in Jackson.

He confronted the man driving the stolen car and when the car stopped the suspect began to walk away.

Another argument began and the suspect pulled a handgun.  The victim began running and was shot once in the back.

He's in stable condition and the search is on for the gunman.

He's described a 17 years old and about 6' 2 inches tall.  Police say he was wearing a black "Carhartt" brand jacket and black skullcap.
