Both Michigan Teams Lose In Elite Eight

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- It's a depressing day for Michigan and Michigan State basketball fans, after both teams ended their season Sunday night after making it to the Elite Eight.

MSU lost to the number seven ranked University of Connecticut, 60-54.

Despite a nine point lead early in the second half the U-Conn Huskies clawed back against a tough Spartan defense and took the lead for good with just under 12 minutes to play.

U-Conn will move on to the final four and face number one ranked Florida Gators.

When Senior Spartan Keith Appling was asked after the game if he wanted to say anything to fans, he replied with "...not right now, I mean I just feel like, I mean I let everybody down..we let everybody down."

Meantime the University of Michigan saw their season end in heartbreaking fashion against number eight ranked University of Kentucky.

A three pointer by Wildcat Aaron Harrison with just seconds left in the game gave Kentucky a 75-72 victory over the Wolverines. Now the University of Kentucky will face the number two ranked Wisconsin Badgers.

That means the Final Four teams are Florida, Wisconsin, U-Conn, and Kentucky.
