(WLNS) - Uninsured Michiganders raced the clock Monday to sign up for health coverage through the Affordable Care Act.
Issac Sprague, 22 hasn't had health insurance since he was nineteen.
"I was just talking with my roommate, Matt, about it, and was like, 'man, it would be nice to have health insurance, maybe get checked up,' said Sprague.
And Monday insurance agents worked to make that happen for those looking for coverage as the deadline to sign up for Obamacare looms.
Dennis Hodges, a blue cross blue shield agent, has seen quite a bit of traffic. "We've had a fair amount of people come in. People who do come in, we've been very successful in writing them and getting them on really an excellent plan," said Hodges.
To date more than 6 million people have gotten coverage for Obamacare through the Healthcare.gov website. Due to heavy traffic the site struggled to stay online Monday. That could cause problems for people without coverage.
Starting in April, there is a $95 fine from Uncle Sam if you are uninsured.
