Lansing City Council Clears Up Locked Door Questions

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Turning the public away from a Lansing City Council Committee of the Whole budget session Monday night was apparently caused by a communication breakdown.

According to Council President A'Lynne Boles a security guard was told the Council session was going to run past 8:45pm and the doors were reportedly locked.

That guard told another guard who informed two separate visitors that the session was not a regular meeting and the public was not in the meeting.

In both cases the people left without incident.

Boles apologized on behalf of the Council for any confusion and says steps are being taken to prevent it happening again.
