Two Arrests In Chainsaw Theft Ring

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Two Chicago residents are free on bond today in connection with a two-state retail fraud ring.

35-year old Ali Ivanov and 57-year old Gaci Juric are accused of stealing nearly $10,000 worth of Stihl chainsaws from various Michigan stores in March.

Police say they then tried to sell the stolen saws on Craigslist in Chicago.  Most of the saws have been recovered.

A third suspect is still being sought.

Investigators from eight departments in four Michigan counties and two Chicago departments have worked together for a year on the case.

If convicted, Ivanov and Juric face up to 20 years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines.
