National Walking Day Encourages Americans To Stay Healthy

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Wednesday is National Walking Day and the American Heart Association is asking you to lace-up your tennis shoes and turn a work day into a work out.

Businesses all over the country are encouraging their employees to wear sneakers to work and take a 30 minute walking break.

The association says nearly 70 percent of Americans are over weight and simple things like having walking buddies at work could help you stay healthy.

"Instead of having a really big water jug you can just have a cup. So you have to walk to the water cooler several times a day and go fill it up," said Allison Haring, Volunteer, The American Heart Association.
