(WLNS) - A Lansing man was recently driving on I-496 when he hit a pothole that crushed his puncture-proof run-flat tire.
Now Tom McAuliffe's $356.67 repair bill has earned him the fifth and final winner of the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association's Pothole Pocketbook contest.
McAuliffe says you know the potholes are bad when they can destroy a run-flat tire and when your radio skips as you hit them.
MITA is calling for the legislature to invest in infrastructure on a long-term basis.
By winning the contest McAuliffe's repair bill is being covered by the MITA sponsors.
