Lansing Sees Highest Gas Price Growth Among US Since January

LANSING, MI (WLNS) - Among the list of U.S. cities that have seen gas prices climb since New Year's Day, the Great Lakes rank the highest.

Lansing is in the No. 1 spot, followed by Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Champaign, IL and Flint, MI. Ann Arbor made the list, but ranks 14.

Also on the list is Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Nebraska and South Dakota. 

Lansing's gas price change since Jan 1 is 70 cents, while South Dakota, at the bottom of the list is 53 cents.

GasBuddy's Senior Petroleum Analyst says the company has seen an overwhelming amount of app downloads this year.

The current Lansing gas price is $3.75, while the Michigan average is $3.69. The National average is 21 cents lowers than Lansing, at $3.54. GasBuddy.com says prices are falling in the Lansing area.
