Rogers Endorses Mike Bishop To Fill Seat

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Outgoing Congressman Mike Rogers is announcing his pick to represent the 8th District when he retires at the end of this term.

Rogers says Mike Bishop gets his endorsement to be the Republican candidate.

"I believe Mike Bishop is the kind of conservative, results-oriented leader that will make the citizens of the 8th District proud," Rogers continued.

Bishop is an Oakland County resident. He was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 1999 and the State Senate in 2003. Due to term limits he was unable to seek re-election in 2010 to the Senate.

Last week Bishop announced he was running for the 8th District seat.  Candidates have until April 22nd to file petitions for the race.
