Jackson Frozen Pipe Ordeal Continues

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Some Jackson homeowners still can't take a shower or wash their hands because their pipes are frozen.

And even though some pipes have thawed city officials say they want to make sure this never happens again.

No more snow on the ground in Jackson but a handful of water pipes underground remain frozen.

"We have had half to three quarters of the people who have had frozen lines back with service.", said Todd Knepper.

Jackson Utility Director Todd Knepper says sixty homes and businesses are still waiting for water.

The warmer weather will help but many didn't have the patience to wait on Mother Nature.

Considering some went more than sixty days without water Daniel Tatro feels he's one of the lucky ones.

But he says as a result of the ordeal he's lost faith in the city of Jackson. Mayor Jason Smith says the city plans to dig up many of their water lines and bury them lower before next winter.

He says homeowners are encouraged to do the same for the lines connecting from the street to their homes.

Smith says in the next few years it's unlikely we see as harsh a winter as this last one--

Nonetheless the city will prepare for the worst.

it might as well still be winter. without running water since January but for about 60 residents in Jackson It may feel like spring outside (WLNS) -
