(WLNS) - There are reports today that a judge in Detroit is considering whether to approve a plea deal for high school football star Jayru Campbell.
Campbell, who was heavily recruited and says he'll play at MSU in 2015, is charged with assault for slamming a security guard to the ground last January. The 17-year old reportedly refused to follow school policy and pull a hood off his head.
The confrontation was captured on video.
The Cass Tech quarterback could be sentenced under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, which allows young defendants to have a conviction erased if they complete the terms of their sentence.
Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Timothy Kenny has set May 2 as a resolution date.
