Puppy Shower Raises Money For Jackson Humane Society

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) -- To raise money and awareness, Saturday a Jackson Pet Supplies Plus store put on a puppy shower after nearly two dozen puppies were abandoned at Cascades Humane Society.

While the puppies are adorable, they also require more work and expense than a regular shelter animal.

Saturday's event focused on getting the puppies adopted, while also promoting fellow shelter animals.

"The community can come in and help Cascades take care of the abandoned puppies we have now, but also all the other animals that we have back at the shelter and the animals that we will be getting in tomorrow. We get new animals every day, so there is such a need in this community," said Lisa Bonney. the Executive Director at Cascades Humane Society.

If you're interested in donating, Pet Supplies Plus, 1094 N. Wisner St. Jackson, will continue to hold a registry of the animal supplies the shelter needs the most. Currently those include exercise pens, training treats, cat litter and flea and tick pills. You can also donate items, money directly to the shelter, or volunteer your time.

For more information on adopting, and the animals available at Cascades Humane Society, visit the organization's website.
