Students Dig In On Local Service Projects

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - A national day of service brought together young people to help out the Lansing community Sunday.

As part of Global Youth Service Day the Ingham County Land Bank "garden program" hosted a community garden clean up.

Volunteers came out to Lansing's Fabulous Acres neighborhood and started work on three community gardens.

Volunteers say the service holiday is a great way to give back to the local community.

"Volunteering can make such a difference. And so its important to go out and make a difference and help people that maybe don't get to live as great as we do," said volunteer Lauren Turner.

More than 70 volunteers grabbed their garden gloves and pitched in Sunday.
