Michigan Civil Rights Group Develops Mobile App

Posted: Updated:

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan civil rights organization has developed what it's calling the first mobile app to report discrimination, ethnic harassment and other forms of bigotry.

The state office of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee announced the launch this week of the Civil Rights Action App. The tool allows users to instantly report such instances to the Dearborn-based organization from their mobile phones.

ADC-Michigan says the app also provides information about citizens' legal rights at work, while traveling and when interacting with law enforcement officials. Additionally, users can share news stories and ADC alerts through the app.

The organization says the app is available for free on iOS and Android devices.

Officials say it commemorates the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
