Snyder Files In Re-election Bid

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Governor Rick Snyder turned in petitions today to ensure his spot on the ballot.

He says over the past 3 years he's created more than a quarter of a million jobs, eliminated a budget deficit, created a budget surplus and brought the unemployment rate to its lowest level since 2008.

Snyder said, "I am absolutely fired up to continue to be governor. We have shown tremendous progress in the last two years. If you look just yesterday we had the lowest unemployment in the last six years happen. That is all going to continue in a positive way because of the outstanding work we are doing as Michiganders together."

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is expected to announce her re-election campaign on Monday.
