Embattled Blackman Township Board Selects New Treasurer

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - More on the ongoing controversy, and resignations, over pay raises for board members in Blackman Township.

Thursday night the board decided who will take over as township treasurer on the same day another trustee announced their resignation.

The four remaining trustees unanimously voted in Phil Preston to take over as township treasurer.

The position still holds the salary increase that trustees approved back in March but Preston agreed to sign a form turning down that salary and accepting the just over $12,000 per year the job called for before the raises.

The board will hold another special meeting next week to make a decision after trustee Paula Clingerman turned in her letter of resignation Wednesday.

It's a resignation that some people want the board to accept.

There's no word yet on when that special meeting will be held
