Lacey Holsworth Tributes Painted On The Rock Are Covered Over

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - Hundreds of tributes to Princess Lacey, the 8-year old girl who captured the hearts of MSU basketball players and the nation, have been painted over.

The messages were painted on The Rock, a landmark campus message board.

It's not known who painted over the tributes but the painting was apparently done overnight Sunday or early Monday morning.

that last week some students spread out on blankets on grass next to The Rock, trying to keep others from painting.

Lacey Holsworth, whose battle with nerve-cell cancer inspired the Michigan State basketball program and strangers who followed her story, died April 8 at her home in nearby St. Johns. Michigan State star Adreian Payne befriended Lacey during one of her hospital stays.

She was affectionately known as "Princess Lacey." During a vigil the night after she died, some painted The Rock and others wrote messages on it.
