Posted: Updated:
IONIA COUNTY, MI (WLNS) – Four dogs are safe Monday after a house fire threatened their lives.

It happened around 10:34 a.m. Monday in the 2800 block of Dick Rd.

Heavy smoke filled the area and the fire began pushing through the bottom of the home’s roof. Four dogs were inside and all were suffering from smoke inhalation.

An officer rescued the four dogs from inside the burning home and gave each dog oxygen. They all responded to the oxygen and regained consciousness. When the owner arrived on scene she took the dogs to the vet.

The fire was under control within 45 minutes. Crews investigated for several hours to make sure the fire was completely out.

The house suffered substantial damage.

All dogs have returned home and are healthy.
