Candlelight Vigil For Michigan's Peace Officers

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - A candlelight memorial service was held Monday night to honor Michigan's peace officers and remember those who have fallen in the line of duty.

More than one hundred people gathered at Lansing City Hall to make the walk to the Capitol.

"Michigan Concerns of Police Survivors" put on the event.

Families of those who were killed in the line of duty say it helps them remember how important their loved one's are.

Kimberly Mone-Ruffin-Jones, widow of a fallen Detroit police officer, appreciates the support the night provides.

"This ceremony means a lot to me. It lets me know how loved and honored rodney was to everyone, to the police department and our nation. With the job he did, how he's remembered, it makes me proud,"  she said.
