Work Continues To Balance State Budget

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - The Michigan legislature  today will pick back up and continue their work to balance the 2015 budget.

Both the Senate and the House are expected to pass their versions by the end of the week.

But that's not stopping them from approving parts of the budget.

The House approved a $36.5 billion bill providing funds for everything but education.

The legislation would increase payments to counties from sales tax to more than 200 million dollars and provides local governments more money.

A separate House education spending bill will allocate just under $16 Billion for schools and that's expected to be voted on sometime this week.
