Local Plumbers Pitch High-Tech Training For Veterans

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - The search for trained skilled tradespeople is focusing on military veterans and active servicepeople preparing to leave the service.

It's a program called Veterans in Piping and it provides training and jobs in welding skills, plus heating and air conditioning repair. Both fields are seeing a high demand for skilled workers.

The 18-week programs are offered free of charge to qualified veterans and active service people.

“Veterans put their lives on the line when they serve our nation, so high skill training and opportunities for a great career are the least they deserve once their service is complete,” said Price Dobernick, from UA Local 333. “We are excited about the chance to give back to those who have given so much for us, and Michigan employers are excited about the chance to hire local veterans.”

Veterans in Piping is sponsored by the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefighters (UA).
