Lansing Police Seek Public Opinion On Planned Move

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Could more of the Lansing Police Department be moving soon?

That's the question now being discussed by Lansing City Council today.

But before any major decisions are made members want to hear what you think.

This isn't the first time an area of the LPD has changed locations.

In April, city officials outlined an agreement to relocate LPD's patrol and investigative divisions to the Lansing School District's Hill Center.

This was due to their lease expiring at the end of August.

But now the Lansing Police Department is thinking about moving the Prudden-tech Center precinct to another location and they want your opinion.

Today at 3:30 at the Lansing City Hall Lansing residents will have the chance to ask more questions about the potential move.

The city of Lansing is evaluating its options to either have LPD leave their current location or move to a temporary location before the department moves to its permanent relocation.

Now if the Lansing City Council decides to move the department's precinct the new location will be a building owned by the city within the next three to five years.
