A 35-year-old man was shot and killed Monday morning in a Rite Aid store in Lansing's Frandor Shopping Center.
According to police, the shooting happened around 11 a.m. when a male suspect walked into the store and shot the employee. The victim died at the scene.
This is Lansing's second homicide of 2014.
A second shooting happened a few minutes later and a mile away along the 1800 block of Coolidge in East Lansing. There was a man shot in a house on Coolidge. He died a short time later.
As a result of the shooting, all East Lansing schools, as well as Fairview Elementary and Pattengill Middle schools in Lansing, were put on lock down. Michigan State University police warned people in the area to remain in a secure location.
