EATON RAPIDS, MI (WLNS) - The Eaton Rapids Medical Center has a disaster preparedness team that responds to all kinds of accidents or chemical spills around the area.
But tonight they're dealing with a disaster of their own.
They keep their emergency supplies in a trailer, but that trailer went missing last week.
6 News Sharon Yoo has the latest on medical supplies on wheels.
The Eaton Rapids Medical Center's disaster preparedness team is always ready when it comes to disasters, but they weren't ready for this.
“Last week we received a report from the medical center that their disaster preparedness trailer had been stolen, sometime between Wednesday and Thursday,” said Larry Weeks, Eaton Rapids Chief of Police.
Owned by the Eaton Rapids Medical Center, it carries a range of tools, like a tent used for treating contaminated patients on scene.
It also has an air pump that sets up the tent and a generator like this one that runs the pump.
“This trailer is our decontamination, disaster trailer. This trailer houses all the equipment that we need in the event of kind of like a major disaster or an event where we have to take care of a lot of people,” said Thomas Bennett, ER Manager, Eaton Rapids Medical Center.
“Someone may have stolen it to resell it to make quick cash or they may have stolen it to use it for construction work or haul other items around with. So it's difficult to know what the criminal intent was,” said Larry Weeks, Eaton Rapids Chief of Police.
In the meantime Eaton Rapids will use one of two trailers from Hayes Green Beach so they'll still be ready in case disaster strikes.
If you see a white, unmarked trailer or have any information on the theft, please call the Eaton Rapids Police Department at (517) 663-8118.
