Budget Surplus May Be Smaller Than Expected

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - That $1 Billion economists predicted the state of Michigan would take-in over the next 3 years?

That may be slightly off.

Economists now believe the state will collect $873 Million less than first predicted.

A little more than $400 Million this year and another $400 Million next.

The estimate by the House Fiscal Agency is one of 3 Governor Rick Snyder and budget experts will use to reach an agreement on just how much revenue they'll have.

These numbers are expected to impact lawmakers working on the budget which they hope to finalize in the next few weeks.
