(WLNS) - New numbers show that in 2013 Michigan reported the 6th highest number of dog bites of all states.
Data from State Farm Insurance shows the company paid out $3.9 Million in Michigan as a result of 162 claims.The numbers come just before the start of National Dog Bite Prevention Week.
Experts say one way to help drop those statistics is to make sure children are never left unattended with dogs.
The Center for Disease Control says dog bites are one of the leading causes of injury to children.
